Advanced Mixed Waste Shipper Certification Training

This course is intended for those whose responsibilities include shipping wastes containing both radioactive and chemical hazards. Topics addressed include waste identification, material classification and those communication requirements that are particular to the transport of mixed wastes. Participants learn the unique requirements for shipping mixed wastes according to 10, 40 and 49 CFR. They are also made aware of the shortcomings of these regulations in addressing mixed waste shipping and the contradictions that may arise when shipping mixed waste as opposed to hazardous or low-level radioactive wastes alone. First-time participants should have training comparable to the Basic Hazardous Material, Hazardous Waste, and Radioactive Material Transportation Training courses or equivalent experience.
